Summary:The present research called: THE PUPPETS AS A TECHNIQUE TO IMPROVE THE EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF CHILDREN OF FIRST YEAR OF BASIC EDUCATION, CLASS B AT UNIDAD EDUCATIVA JOSÉ ÁNGEL PALACIO IN THE CITY OF LOJA; had as objective to analyze the benefits of the use of puppets as a technique to improve the emotional development of children. The methods were: descriptive, scientific, deductive and analytical-synthetic; the sample was of a teacher and 22 children; between the technique and instrument used, was the interview and the scale of Evaluation of Child Emotional Development (EDEI) of Henao; in the literature review, two variables were analyzed: the puppets and the emotional development. The results of the diagnosis showed the difficulty in a level of risk in affective development. In order to improve this problem, an activity guide was applied, which allowed reaching a normal level of emotional development. All this agrees to affirm that the execution of activities within the teachinglearning process with puppets, contribute significantly to developing the imaginative, expressive skills to generate emotional understanding and empathy in the investigated children, so it is recommended to work with new, innovative and interesting proposals, of the children's enjoyment, that involve strategies, methodologies or tools for improving the development within the teaching-learning process with puppets, which contributes significantly to develop the imaginative-emotional skills, preparing them for life.
