For guidance was raised overall objective is to investigate whether the use of the techniques used by teachers in the teaching-learning process improves the academic performance of the Curriculum Block Numbers Fractional of the subject of mathematics in the students of the Educational Unit Attached to the National University of Loja. To achieve the purpose described , raised as specific objectives , whether teachers in the teaching learning process of the subject Mathematical techniques used for compression of Fractional Numbers Curricular block ; establish whether the techniques used affect academic performance ; and raise Alternative Guidelines to help improve the teaching learning process in this subject , using active techniques , intended to motivate learning of mathematics and achieve better results in the academic performance of students. From the field data obtained through surveys of teachers and students could see the following results : Teachers eighth year of the course in Mathematics teaching and learning process using compression techniques to block Curricular Fractional Numbers, as: Troubleshooting, dictation, demonstration, brainstorming, expository, questioning, group techniques, synoptic charts, mind maps and educational games
