| Summary: | The present research is based on the application of the symbolic game as a tool for developing the emotional intelligence. The general objective is to establish the application of the symbolic game as a tool for developing of the emotional intelligence in kids who have been identified with Down syndrome, in the “Sendero de Alegría” Rehabilitation Center, in Loja City, during the period 2014. This work is classified as quasi-experimental and social design. The methods have been used on this research are the analytical, descriptive, statistical, and explanatory methods. On the other hand, the population of this research was formed by 12 people, and the sample was formed by 4 kids. During the process we first applied a diagnostic test which showed us that the kids did not use their emotional intelligence. Then we applied the symbolic game as a tool for developing of the emotional intelligence. Finally to probe the results of that application we applied a post test that showed us a meaningful improvement of the emotional intelligence in the kids who were under study. From that we conclude that: the kids have their own way to interact and a preference with who interact with according to the moment where they are. So, we recommend the application of the symbolic game to encourage kids to be spontaneous and self-decision takers on their actions while they are playing |
