Summary: | The Curricular Integration work “Mathematical stories as a teaching resource in the learning of the Algebra and Functions block” has as general objective contributes to the learning of the Algebra and functions block using mathematical stories as teaching resource in the students of the Second Grade Basic Education at "José Ingenieros" Primary School in Loja city, during the academic year 2023-2024. This is a descriptive research, with a mixed approach and quasi-experimental design; The theoretical framework addresses the variables: The mathematical story and The Algebra functions block. During the process of this researching work they were used the scientific, descriptive, analytical, synthetic and statistical methods. The information has been gotten through a diagnostic evaluation, it was designed basing on the contents of the Curriculum the Ministry of Education for Second Grade of Basic Education. Moreover, a woman teacher was interviewed about it. The population who were investigated includes twenty-five students and a teacher from the “José Ingenieros” Basic Education School; The preliminary results show that, the learning of the Algebra and functions block should be considerably improved. So, it is suggested the introduction of mathematical stories because of, they have a positive impact on the understanding and retention of algebraic concepts. In addition, students show more interest and an active participation during the lessons that incorporate this methodology. Therefore, it was planned the proposal “Enchanting the little ones: a didactic guide of mathematical stories” which was successfully executed, its effectiveness was corroborated in the second evaluation to the students, whose results allow us to visualize significant changes. It demonstrates that, the mathematical stories applied in a planned and organized way constitute an effective teaching resource for the learning the Algebra and Functions block. |
