總結:Knowledge and proper use of contraceptive methods is of vital importance to reduce and avoid unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections. Both nationally and in the town of Loja, a large number of women begin to engage in sexual activities, unaware and ignorant of the effective use of contraceptives. Given the implications of this problem, the objective of this study was to determine the knowledge and use of contraceptive methods among women of childbearing age living in the San Cayetano Bajo neighborhood, as well as to characterize the sociodemographic conditions and identify the contraceptive method most widely known and used; Therefore, a descriptive study was carried out, using surveys, through systematic sampling and by formula with the participation of 107 women of the 1040 inhabitants of the San Cayetano Bajo neighborhood, determining that the majority are single, of Catholic religion, with an age range between 24 and 29 years old, and consider themselves mestizo. A large percentage are knowledgeable about contraceptive methods; However, a minority indicated that they were unaware of the subject; the most known methods were hormonal injections, the subdermal implant and the condom in that order respectively, but a large part of the population stressed that they do not use a contraceptive method, and those who do mentioned that the condom is the most used method due to its "double protection", Finally, there are formal and non-formal educational spaces such as information provided by parents and educational units that need to develop methodologies with participatory tools to reach women of childbearing age with the appropriate knowledge.
