| Sažetak: | The main objective of this research was to increase the vocabulary knowledge through project-based learning among second year students at a public high school in Loja city during the 2021-2022 school year. The methodology used for this research was a mixed methodology with quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, with the use of data collection instruments such as a pretest and posttest single design with the purpose of measuring students’ levels of vocabulary knowledge before and after the intervention plan. Also, a qualitative approach with semi structure interviews and field notes that were applied in order to know the students’ perceptions towards project-based learning. Furthermore, the research participants were 15 students from second year. The results from this research showed that students significantly increased their vocabulary knowledge. Namely, in the aspects of meaning, use, and form. This enhancement was visible in students’ posttest results. They went from a 4/10 to an 8.2/10. Thus, it was concluded that the use of project-based learning greatly increased students’ vocabulary knowledge, as well as created a more dynamic environment that permitted a more active participation from the selected population.
