Summary:This document proposes an optimization algorithm, which allows you to raise energy efficiency and reduce the costs of a system that is capable of calculating the optimum lighting for a particular road or area of study. The algorithm is developed in a Matlab, which employs the mixed integer linear programming, which analyzes optimal technology, energy cost, type of road, height, and distances between poles, depending on the time of life of the project or area of study. The results obtained by the algorithm provide us, the optimal stage of provision and type of lights used in street lighting. This study is intended to electric companies, incorporated into their system this optimization algorithm, and take the best decision in relation to the minimum costs, energy efficiency, lighting technologies used in street lighting.
