要約:The protections are a fundamental part in the electrical power systems. The electrical distribution system, like any other electrical system, is not free from disturbances or faults that would cause an interruption of service, so that the system must be provided with devices that anticipate any damage to the medium voltage lines at the 13.8 KV level. (CAMACHO, 2013) Considering that electrical distribution systems are responsible for feeding all users (industries, shopping centers, housing) then their main objective is to maintain a continuous service of energy, this is true until a failure occurs at some point in the system . Predicting exactly when a fault will occur is impossible, however, an adequate adjustment of protection in the distribution lines could promise a reliable supply. The distribution feeder protection equipment installed in the UN Los Ríos substation windows are Siemens brand reclosers consisting of a control board and the magnetic actuator that performs the operations (opening - closing). The protection relay used is the Reyrolle, which is configured with all the necessary protection settings. The main objective of correctly adjusting the protection equipment is to clear the fault at the indicated point so as not to affect the rest of the substation feeders. In addition to identifying the type of failure occurred and that the protective equipment acted correctly. The most common cases of failures in our system are trees near or over distribution lines, atmospheric discharges, lack of maintenance of medium voltage structures and low frequency in the system. For each failure occurring in the distribution lines, there is a different protection that is configured in the protection relay, which will be detailed in the development of the project. The purpose of this project is that electrical protections have the following characteristics: sensitivity, selectivity, speed, reliability, simplicity and economy. (FERNANDEZ)
