Summary: | The Dietetic intervention plays an important role in the control of arterial hypertension in adults Objective: to determine the impact of a dietary intervention based on the DASH diet on the control of blood pressure in hypertensive adults treated at the Jaime Roldós Aguilera Basic Hospital during the period October 2024 May 2025. Methodology: This project is experimental, field, correlational, inductive and deductive method with a quantitative approach. Results: 89% were female, 95.9% were of mixed race, the shapiro wilk test did not show normality in systolic blood pressure before and after the dietary intervention, there was a significant difference in systolic pressure (p < .001) but not in diastolic pressure (p = 0.346) with 6 and 3 cases with no change in each variable respectively. Discussion: The DASH diet intervention in 72 adults showed a significant reduction in systolic blood pressure (-6.0 mmHg, p < .001), similar to previous studies. However, diastolic blood pressure showed no significant change. Conclusion: dietary intervention based on the DASH diet is an effective strategy for the management of hypertension, although its long-term impact may depend on other factors. Recommendations: its implementation is recommended in the comprehensive treatment of hypertension and further follow-up studies should be conducted to assess its sustainability and efficacy in different populations. |
