要約:This curricular integration project focuses on investigating the factors that influence postpartum depression in adolescent mothers treated at the Martín Icaza Hospital in the Babahoyo canton. Postpartum depression is a worrisome mental health condition that affects women after giving birth, and its prevalence is significantly high in the context of adolescent mothers. The primary goal of this research is to determine the factors that contribute to the onset and development of postpartum depression in this specific demographic. The study will be carried out through a mixed methodology that combines both quantitative and qualitative methods. In the quantitative phase, data will be collected through standardized questionnaires that will assess the presence of depressive symptoms, as well as a series of sociodemographic and health variables. The qualitative phase will involve in-depth interviews with adolescent mothers who have experienced postpartum depression, in order to further explore their experiences, perceptions and experiences in relation to triggers. Various factors will be considered in the analysis, such as available social support, level of education, socioeconomic status, access to medical care, and perceived stress. The results of this study are expected to provide valuable information for a deeper understanding of the factors underlying postpartum depression in adolescent mothers and will allow the design of more effective interventions adapted to the specific needs of this vulnerable group, with the aim of improving both the mental health of mothers as well as the well-being of their children.
