Summary:The objective of this clinical case is to apply it to the nursing care process in an older adult patient with acute gastritis. During the nursing assessment process, vital signs are taken, observing a temperature of 36°C, 21 breaths per minute, blood pressure of 90/60mmHg, oxygen saturation of 93% and control of anthropometric measurements giving as a result, a weight of 53.7 kg, height of 145 cm, with a BMI of 18,5,which indicates low weight, on physical examination pale facies, semi-moist mucous membranes, abdominal pain at the level of the epigastrium, difficulty walking is evident. Doctor orders that hematological tests, urinalysis, coprology, blood chemistry be carried out immediately. After the assessment and the results of the tests, the patient's medical diagnosis was obtained. The present investigation about this clinical case refers to the pathologies that the patient presented, its causes, clinical signs, risk factors and complications. Therefore, the nursing care process is carried out, focusing on the altered functional patterns and based on these, the nursing diagnosis is made with its interventions through the application of the NANDA, NIC and NOC taxonomies. Follow-up and control corresponding to the patient was carried out according to the treatment prescribed by the doctor, which was favorable for her speedy recovery.
