(2022), which found a significant positive correlation (r=0.76) between progressive methods and the development of socio-emotional competencies. The problem identified is the need to strengthen socio-emotional skills at the Guillermo Baquerizo Jiménez Educational Unit, where DECE records indicate significant challenges: 40% of cases with difficulties in conflict resolution, 35% with social adaptation problems, and 30% with difficulties in emotional expression. The main objective is to determine the impact of progressive education on the development of socio-emotional skills in 8th grade EGB students during the period 2024-2025. The research uses a mixed approach, combining quantitative and qualitative methods. The population comprises 39 students and 3 teachers from eighth grade, working with the entire population because it is manageable. Collection techniques include student surveys and semi-structured interviews with teachers. The anticipated results suggest a significant improvement in the development of socio-emotional skills through the implementation of progressive strategies, including better emotional self-regulation, greater teamwork capacity, and better communication skills. In conclusion, it is expected that progressive education will prove to be an effective approach for the comprehensive development of socio-emotional competencies in basic education students. This research will contribute to the educational field by providing empirical evidence on the effectiveness of progressive approaches in the Ecuadorian educational context.

Los antecedentes incluyen estudios relevantes como el de Figueroa y Zambrano (2023), que demostró un incremento del 45% en habilidades de autorregulación emocional y comunicación asertiva, y Paredes et al. (2022), que encontró una correlación positiva significativa (r=0.76) entre métodos progresistas y desarrollo de competencias socioemocionales. El problema identificado es la necesidad de fortalecer las habilidades socioemocionales en la Unidad Educativa Guillermo Baquerizo Jiménez, donde los registros del DECE indican desafíos significativos: 40% de casos con dificultades en resolución de conflictos, 35% con problemas de adaptación social y 30% con dificultades en expresión emocional. El objetivo principal es determinar el impacto de la educación progresista en el desarrollo de habilidades socioemocionales en estudiantes de 8vo EGB durante el período 2024-2025. La investigación emplea un enfoque mixto, combinando métodos cuantitativos y cualitativos. La población comprende 39 estudiantes y 3 docentes de octavo año, trabajando con la totalidad de la población por ser manejable. Las técnicas de recolección incluyen encuestas a estudiantes y entrevistas semiestructuradas a docentes. Los resultados anticipados sugieren una mejora significativa en el desarrollo de habilidades socioemocionales mediante la implementación de estrategias progresistas, incluyendo mejor autorregulación emocional, mayor capacidad de trabajo en equipo y mejores habilidades de comunicación. Como conclusión, se espera que la educación progresista demuestre ser un enfoque efectivo para el desarrollo integral de competencias socioemocionales en estudiantes de educación básica.
