description The present case study aims to analyze the informational and media treatment that was given to patient zero during the Covid-19 pandemic in Ecuador, for which conceptual bases around journalistic styles were investigated, which allow have an idea about what line of investigation a journalist should follow, the same one who has the obligation to communicate to the public the facts that have arisen in world, national or local events, depending on the area where it operates. In addition to the aforementioned, we also proceeded to review and compare, through the use of an observation card, the type of treatment that was given to patient zero in various digital and printed media in Ecuador in order to collect information on whether or not it existed or not respect for the patient considering the possibility of a media lynching due to the danger that this disease represents for humanity due to the high rate of contagion and mortality. Concluding that currently social networks play a preponderant role in non-traditional communication media, so that through the WhatsApp network, videos, audios and images were shared that did not respect the privacy of the patient, in addition to violating medical protocols and instigating to panic, recommending that the public at the time of sharing these videos and images think about the integrity of the person and what it can cause, as was the media lynching and even attacks on the physical integrity of the family of patient zero.
