Резюме:The research around the active strategies for the development of comprehensive reading in the Fourth Year of Basic General Education of the "Mariscal Sucre" Educational Unit, addressed as a central problem the lack of adequate strategies to promote the development of comprehensive reading in the students, which generates that the students do not satisfactorily reach the skills outlined in the curriculum. The objective of the research was to strengthen the development of comprehensive reading through active strategies in the Fourth Year of Basic General Education "Mariscal Sucre" Educational Unit. The applied methodology had a mixed, qualitative - quantitative approach, with the purpose of delving into the problem investigated from an integral and dynamic perspective, in addition, bibliographic and field research has been used to theoretically base the investigation and elaborate the situational diagnosis, by applying the deductive and synthetic method. The techniques used were the interview with the institutional authority and the survey applied to teachers and students. The results of the investigation show the low level of comprehensive reading that students have, for which a proposal was developed for the implementation of active strategies in the didactic process, with this, it was possible to significantly improve the level of comprehensive reading. in the learner.
