Therefore, the purpose of this research focused on evaluating the efficiency of energy production in the group 3 generator. The methodology established for this purpose was through a quantitative approach, based on collecting and analyzing numerical data, on electrical and mechanical variables that directly and indirectly affect electricity generation; In addition, documentary and field research was applied, both in original documents, photographs, technical maintenance reports and historical data on the operation of the units and the measurement of the variables directly to the object of study; and taken from texts and articles that directed the evaluation and proposal of the generating group. To determine the current conditions of the insulation system between the winding and the ground walls, high potential electrical tests (HIPOT) were carried out according to IEEE 95-2002, and impulse comparison (SURGE) according to IEEE 522-2004, yielding results that indicate the contamination and poor state of the insulation, for which maintenance was carried out on generation group No. 3. After the intervention, it was possible to increase the efficiency of the machine by 1.12%, which is why the energy production capacity was improved, reaching a power of 1400 kW. |

After the intervention, it was possible to increase the efficiency of the machine by 1.12%, which is why the energy production capacity was improved, reaching a power of 1400 kW.La Central Hidroeléctrica denominada “Illuchi 1” de la Empresa Eléctrica Provincial Cotopaxi S.A (ELEPCO SA), está compuesta por cuatro turbinas que accionan 4 grupos de generadores, de los cuales el N° 1 y 2 tiene la capacidad de generar 872 kVA, siendo su potencia real explotada de 600 kW; mientras tanto los grupos N° 3 y 4 tienen un alcance de 1750 kVA, produciendo apenas 900kW y 1400kW respectivamente, evidenciando que existe una baja producción del grupo 3 de la central. Por lo anterior, el propósito de la presente investigación se enfocó en evaluar la eficiencia de producción de energía en el generador del grupo 3. La metodología establecida para el efecto, fue a través de un enfoque cuantitativo, basado en recoger y analizar datos numéricos, sobre variables eléctricas y mecánicas que afectan directa e indirectamente a la generación eléctrica; además se aplicó la investigación de tipo documental y de campo, tanto en documentos originales, fotografías, informes técnicos de mantenimientos y datos históricos sobre la operación de las unidades y la medición de las variables directamente al objeto de estudio; y tomadas de textos y artículos que direccionaron a la evaluación y propuesta del grupo generador. Para determinar las condiciones actuales del sistema de aislamiento entre bobinado y paredes de tierra, se hicieron pruebas eléctricas de alto potencial (HIPOT) según IEEE 95-2002, y comparación de impulsos (SURGE) según IEEE 522-2004, arrojando resultados que indican la contaminación y mal estado del aislamiento, por lo que realizó el mantenimiento en el grupo de generación Nº3.
