الملخص:The main objective of this research was to identify the professional profile of institutional communicator in the Public sector in the province of Cotopaxi, and the same time mark the characteristics of the labor market and employability in this. The research process was performed in stages were the following methods were used: theoretical, bibliographic, qualitative, quantitative, deductive, inductive, exploratory, descriptive and explanatory; as tools were used interviews to professionals in the area of institutional communications and surveys to institutions in the Cotopaxi province which have this department. So, fulfill with the general objective proposed, the qualities, skills, theoretical knowledge, activities, performance and practical knowledge which are needed to perform a satisfactorily, job were identified, the same as they were collected in an "Activities Guide of the Institutional Communicator ", also the factors of employability of this labor market were analized, the aim of the guide is to provide a level of knowledge to professionals who seek to be part of this labour area. The main problems found were the lack of vacancies in public institutions, processes for recruitment and problems to enter in this labour area in the public sector. As a general conclusion it was possible to specify the profile needed to work in institutional communication on public sector in Cotopaxi, also the difficulties to satisfy the employability of who wish to entering this labour area.
