Description
Summary:Cadmium is a heavy metal that can be present in soil and agricultural crops and can be harmful to human health. Several researches affirm that there are phytoremediation plants that are capable of absorbing contaminants from the soil and transforming them into less toxic or even harmless ones. The purpose of this study was to determine the most effective treatment for the remediation of soils contaminated with cadmium (Cd). For the execution of the project, the necessary material (juvenile shoots of Cecropia peltata L. (guarumo) and cocoa soil substrate) was collected and installed in the environment of the nursery located in the Campus ''La Maria'' extension of the State Technical University of Quevedo (UTEQ).
