सारांश:The objective of this research was to determine the density of the balsa wood (Ochroma pyramidale Cav. ex Lam. Urb.) And its level of height with the height in the trees of the plants of 4 ages (8 months, 1 year 6 months 2 years 7 months and 3 years 2 months). For this, 15 trees were taken per plantation to which samples were taken (10 cm long shields) at different heights of the stem, the samples have been obtained, dried and up to 12% moisture has been obtained, once dry The volume and density per disc were calculated. To calculate the density of each individual, the densities previously calculated at different ages were averaged. The results that we obtained the average density of balsa wood at the age of 3.2 years is 117.14 kg/cm3, while at the age of 2.7 years it had an average density of 129.74 kg/cm3 , at the age of 1.6 years it presented an average density of 118.17 kg/cm3 and the 0.8 years of age had an average density of 136.15 kg/cm3. To establish the calculation of the waste of the realization of the use of the trees, and the taking of the dasometric variables, the felling was carried out and the trees were cut to the measure of 2.60 m. To ship, the wood that was sent to the storage yard in Plantabal S.A. and how much wood would be harvested. It also shows the issue of wood that is not used or wasted, which comes in the knots of trees. Once the wood was in the storage yard, it passes by, for its transformation into lists of wood, here with the help of the machinists, the wood was classified into: wood that is harvested and wood that is lost due to waste or defects, It gives 88.36% of total waste of wood.
