总结:This research analyzes the use of supplementary materials for teaching children in EFL classes. The purpose of this study is to find out if teachers are actually using these materials, and to examine, how pertinent, appropriate, and qualified those materials are. The study was carried out in a private English Institute in Quito. The students who participated were 8, 9 and 10 year-old children; The majority of students studies in this institute because they enjoy learning English and for reinforcing their language knowledge to improve their grades at school. Both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies were utilized in this study. The qualitative research data consisted of the information taken from the observation sheets that described how the teachers use each supporting material. The quantitative research analysis described the variety of materials used and the frequency the teacher utilized them. The analyzed results showed that, the pertinence, appropriateness and quality of several materials are being taken into account, however it is necessary the use of more variety of materials in order to improve the teachers’ consideration of the children learning styles.
