Summary:This work has as a main objective to find the most influential quantitative variables on academic performance, taking into account the characteristics of each individual and their environment. That is, the impact on student’s performance and limitations to increase their capabilities. Furthermore, this analysis is validated through a probit model, because its results are robust and have the best fit found in econometric models. Finally, the research concludes that socioeconomic factors are the main elements that deprive the improvement of student’s capabilities. Among the factors we have: family incomes, the same that lead to divergence in academic achievement and financial aid or scholarships, which help reduce the inequalities of social groups, so that, they allow to improve the economic conditions of the individual, the latter variable is the most significant in predicting the future success of professional training; and academic factors such as the study area, the number of components and previous performance
