Description

The role of the teaching technician has been incorporated into the teaching-learning process since 2012, in high level institutions. The purpose of the teaching technician is to help improve the quality of university instruction, for which, the current regulations establish that its mission is to provide support to the student, alongside regular teachers, in practical learning activities, in research and in the teaching of a foreign language. However, the role that has been given to the teaching technician is ambiguous, differing significantly from one Institution to another. The current research focuses on characterizing the role of teaching technicians and the academic and administrative functions they must fulfill. For this purpose, the legal and administrative framework is analyzed, as well as the point of view of the authorities, teachers in the role of academic coordinators and those referred technicians to define the guidelines that allow the inclusion of technicians in academic purposes, in response to their contribution in the teaching process.
Desde el año 2012 se incorporó la figura del técnico docente en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje, dentro de las Instituciones de Educación Superior. La finalidad del técnico docente es ayudar a mejorar la calidad en la instrucción universitaria, para lo cual, la normativa vigente establece que su misión es brindar apoyo al estudiante, junto a los docentes titulares, en las actividades de aprendizaje práctico, en las investigaciones y en la enseñanza de una lengua extrajera. Sin embargo, el papel que se le ha dado al técnico docente es ambiguo, difiriendo significativamente de una Institución de Educación Superior a otra. La presente investigación se enfoca en caracterizar el rol de los técnicos docentes y las funciones tanto académicas como administrativas que deben cumplir. Para ello se analiza el marco legal y administrativo, además del punto de vista de las autoridades, docentes en el rol de coordinadores académicos y de los mismos técnicos, para definir los lineamientos que permitan la inclusión de los técnicos a la academia, como respuesta a su contribución en el proceso de enseñanza.
