Las diferencias sociales se reflejan en los centros de enseñanza. Ello ha supuesto el establecimiento de principios y valores normativos de igualdad dentro de la materia educativa. Se trata de una cuestión recíproca, en la que la educación necesita que exista la igualdad, pero la igualdad puede alcanzarse en gran parte a través de la contribución de la educación. Esta doble conexión, tal y como se menciona en la doctrina, se produce debido a que a través de la igualdad educativa podría alcanzarse una mayor igualdad social en el futuro y una sociedad con menos desigualdades acabará produciendo unas instituciones educativas más igualitarias. La presente investigación, basada en un análisis documental y el procedimiento analítico-sintético, tiene por objetivos, en primer lugar, analizar la problemática relacionada con la igualdad y no discriminación en el ámbito educativo; y en segundo lugar, apreciar las disposiciones jurídicas vigentes que en la actualidad han tratado de solucionar esta problemática, tanto a nivel internacional, en particular en la Unión Europea y nacional. Finalmente, como resultado se ha logrado valorar que el camino que falta por recorrer es largo, y que aún cuando se sientan las bases para que se erradiquen totalmente las formas de discriminación por razón de sexo, lo cierto es que en el mundo en que vivimos se requieren medidas más concretas y más concisas para eliminar estas cuestiones, lo que exige incrementar con base científica y compromiso social la contribución que en ello debe y puede hacer la educación.
Social differences are reflected in schools. This has meant the establishment of normative principles and values of equality within the educational field. It is a question of reciprocity, in which education needs equality, but equality can be attained largely through the contribution of education. This dual connection, as it is mentioned in the doctrine, occurs because through educational equality could achieve greater social equality in the future and a society with fewer inequalities will eventually produce more egalitarian educational institutions. The present research, based on a documentary analysis and the analytical-synthetic procedure has as objectives, in the first place, to analyze the problems related to equality and non-discrimination in the educational field; and secondly, to assess the existing legal provisions that have now tried to solve this problem, both internationally, in particular in the European Union and national. Finally, as a result, we have been able to appreciate that the road that remains to be traveled is long, and that even when the foundations are laid down for the total eradication of forms of discrimination on the basis of gender, the truth is that in the world in which we live more concrete and more concise measures are needed to eliminate these issues, which requires to increase with scientific foundation and social commitment the contribution that education must and can do to it.
