The Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism (FAU) of the Central University of Ecuador (UCE) has questioned the limits of the architectural discipline, to reflect on the current role of the profession, with the purpose of generating a new academic discourse that allows linking practice and theory within the architect’s training. The Higher Education Law requires a constant renewal of the academic curriculum, so that the offer is relevant and responds to contemporary problems. Thus, in order to develop an academic curriculum, not only is a process of analysis and constant feedback necessary, interdisciplinary or even transdisciplinary themes must also be built, both in undergraduate and postgraduate master’s degrees. An alternative solution is the integrative chair of applied knowledge in the vertical workshop of architectural projects that is complemented with theoretical and critical bases.
La Facultad de Arquitectura y Urbanismo (FAU) de la Universidad Central del Ecuador (UCE) se ha cuestionado los límites de la disciplina arquitectónica para reflexionar sobre el rol actual de la profesión, con el propósito de generar un nuevo discurso académico que permita enlazar la práctica y la teoría dentro de la formación del arquitecto. La Ley de Educación Superior exige una renovación constante del currículo académico para que la oferta sea pertinente y responda a las problemáticas contemporáneas. Es así que, para elaborar un currículo académico, no solo es necesario un proceso de análisis y retroalimentación constante: también se deben construir temáticas interdisciplinares o incluso transdisciplinares, tanto en pre-grado como en las maestrías de posgrado. Una alternativa de solución es la cátedra integradora de saberes aplicada en el taller vertical de proyectos arquitectónicos, que se complementa con bases teóricas y críticas.
