An analysis of the graduate models in Latin America

The objective of this research was to propose a graduate model for sustainable human development after evaluating different trends of the existing models. We used theoretical methods such as the historical and logical methods, for analysing the evolution of the different graduate models; the analysis and synthesis method, for evaluating the data collected during the study; and the statistical and mathematical method, for processing the data and generating quantitative results. We carried out interviews with graduate students from The Escuela Superior Politécnica Agropecuaria de Manabí Manuel Félix López, Ecuador, and interviews with lecturers and university authorities for evaluating the management of the graduate models at the university and region. In the results, we established indicators for classifying the graduate models, which served to develop a proposal that meets the current needs of this process. The model begins with the consideration of the social needs in the area of study to promote the development of human potentials. We consider the importance of graduate programs in solving regional development problems in connection with sustainable human development
La investigación tuvo como objetivo proponer un modelo de posgrado para el desarrollo humano sostenible, a partir de la valoración de las diversas tendencias de los modelos existentes. Se utilizaron métodos teóricos como el histórico-lógico, para el análisis de la evolución de los distintos modelos de posgrado, y el de analítico-síntético para la valoración de la información obtenida durante el proceso de investigación; además el método estadístico-matemático para el procesamiento de los datos y obtención de resultados cuantitativos; se realizaron encuestas a maestrantes de la Escuela Superior Politécnica Agropecuaria de Manabí Manuel Félix López, Ecuador y entrevistas a docentes y directivos para evaluar la gestión del posgrado en la institución y en la región. Dentro de los resultados obtenidos se determinaron indicadores para la clasificación de los modelos de posgrado, lo que permitió el desarrollo de una propuesta que satisface las necesidades actuales de este proceso sustantivo. El modelo que se propone parte de las necesidades sociales del contexto, propiciando el desarrollo de sus potencialidades; le restablece al posgrado su pertinencia y se dirige a la solución de los problemas del desarrollo regional coherente con la visión del desarrollo humano sostenible.
