Description

In Ecuador, some sustainability goals to be accomplished by 2017 have been included in the national planning; in which telecommunications and electricity are set to play a key role. By analysing the historical evolution of these sectors in Ecuador; this research unpacks the type and dynamics of interactions between the two. The evidence found through this analysis shows the existence of barriers and uncertainties for governance, towards the accomplishment of the 2017 objectives. By using the concepts of socio-technical regimes, sustainability, multi-level perspective and governance; this study makes an empirical contribution to the nascent literature regarding regime interdependencies; highlighting its importance and influence towards sustainability transitions.
