Description

A novel methyl thiophene triindole derivative has been synthetized and characterized. Electrochemical studies have been performed to estimate its HOMO and LUMO energy levels. P-type organic thin film transistors based on this particular triindole-based system have been prepared. The resulting device yielded mobility values up to of 10 ?3 cm 2 V?1 s?1 under aerated conditions. This study demonstrates that the linkage of thiophene moieties to the parent triindole structure affords valuable p-type semiconductive organic materials to be used as active layers in OTFTs.
