Asociaciones, beneficencia, educación y teatro. Salta, primera mitad del siglo XIX (Estudios)

Description: The article tackles the emerging experiences of modern associationalism in the city of Salta in Argentina in the first half of the twentieth century, for the purpose of examining the ties between provincial governments and the local church, after the collapse of the colonial order. To this end, it also examines the structure of nineteenth-century charities and the gradual rise of the modern public sector. In particular, it describes the associations that were established on the margins of church jurisdiction and summarizes some of the manifestations of secularization in the above-mentioned period.
Este artículo aborda el estudio de las nacientes experiencias asociativas modernas en la ciudad de Salta (Argentina) durante la primera mitad del siglo XIX, con el propósito de analizar las relaciones entre el Estado provincial y la iglesia local, tras la disolución del orden colonial; para lo cual se examinan la configuración de la beneficencia decimonónica y la paulatina conformación de una incipiente esfera pública moderna. De manera particular, se caracterizan las asociaciones que se crearon al margen de la jurisdicción eclesiástica y, a través de ellas, se reseñan algunas de las expresiones del proceso de secularización en el período señalado.
