Objetivo: Determinar la relación entre el nivel de instrucción y el nivel de indiferencia al tratamiento odontológico en personas entre 18 a 44 años en la parroquia Hermano Miguel en la ciudad de Cuenca en el año 2017. Materiales y Métodos: la metodología aplicada en el estudio fue con enfoque cuantitativo, con un diseño de caso control, se utilizaron cuestionarios a manera de encuesta aplicados en la parroquia Hermano Miguel de la Ciudad de Cuenca, en el cuestionario se analizan los medidores de indiferencia al tratamiento dental por el DIS (dental indifference scale) de Nuttal, posteriormente se realizó un muestreo por conveniencia en 194 personas en 97 casos y 97 controles respectivamente. Resultados: Se evidenció un mayor rango de indiferencia al tratamiento odontológico en personas que presentaron un nivel de instrucción bajo, aproximadamente 69 (35%) personas en edades comprendidas entre 18 a 44 años en la parroquia Hermano Miguel en la ciudad de Cuenca en el año 2017. Conclusiones: Al concluir con la investigación, se demostró que existe relación entre el nivel de instrucción y la indiferencia al tratamiento odontológico en adultos jóvenes con edades de 18 a 44 años en la parroquia Hermano Miguel de la ciudad de Cuenca en el año 2017, concluyendo que a menor nivel de instrucción, se presenta más indiferencia al tratamiento dental.

Results: A greater range of indifference to dental treatment was evidenced in people who presented a low level of education, approximately 69 (35%) persons between the ages of 18 and 44 in the Hermano Miguel parish in the city of Cuenca in the year 2017. Conclusions: At the conclusion of the research, it was demonstrated that there is a relationship between the level of instruction and indifference to treatment in young adults aged 18 to 44 years in the Hermano Miguel parish of the city of Cuenca in 2017, concluding that at a lower level of instruction, there is more indifference to dental treatment.
