El presente trabajo de investigación, previo a la obtención del título, está enfocado en realizar una Guía Didáctica para los estudiantes de la Universidad Católica de Cuenca, que sirva de apoyo a las Cátedras de Teoría e Historia de la Arquitectura II y III. Ampliando y reforzando el conocimiento sobre la influencia del Movimiento Moderno en Cuenca, el cual se desarrolló en los 50’s y 60’s en la zona de El Ejido, junto al Plan Regulador de Gilberto Gatto Sobral. Por tanto, en estos años y en décadas posteriores, se construyeron la mayoría de edificaciones de corte moderno, diseñadas por ingenieros y arquitectos graduados en el extranjero y en la Universidad de Cuenca. Este periodo es importante debido a que se generó el estilo propio de la ciudad, mezclando la Arquitectura Moderna con elementos y materiales tradicionales, que más tarde hizo a la Arquitectura Cuencana reconocida nacionalmente. La elaboración del trabajo se apoya en documentación existente como tesis, libros, informes, revistas; y levantamientos de campo que incluye fotografías, planimetrías y entrevistas. El resultado de esta investigación permite revelar edificaciones catalogadas por el Instituto Nacional de Patrimonio Cultural, como patrimonio arquitectónico moderno. La mayoría de éstas pertenecen a la época de los 50’s a 90’s, que, si bien no fueron hitos de referencia mundial, marcan una época de la ciudad. En conclusión, este documento, antes que ser otra investigación sobre Arquitectura Moderna, tiene como enfoque instruir y servir de apoyo para el estudio académico profundo por parte del alumno de Arquitectura sobre el Movimiento Moderno, mediante actividades de refuerzo, evaluaciones, revisión bibliográfica y el planteamiento de casos singulares en Cuenca. De esta manera, al momento de investigar no tendrá que recurrir al internet, donde la información muchas veces no es la correcta o precisa, pudiéndose servir de la información reunida en la presente Guía Didáctica.
The present research work prior to obtaining the degree is focused on making a Didactic Guide for students of the Catholic University of Cuenca, which will support the Chair of Theory and History of Architecture II and III. Expanding and reinforcing the influence of the Modern Movement in Cuenca, which developed in the 50's and 60's, in the area of El Ejido, along with the Regulatory Plan of Gilberto Gatto Sobral, therefore in these years, and in subsequent decades they were built Most modern buildings, designed by engineers and architects, graduated abroad and at the University of Cuenca. This period is important due to the fact that a style of its own was generated, mixing Modern Architecture with traditional elements and materials, thus Cuenca's own style began to emerge, which later made the Cuencan Architecture nationally recognized. For the elaboration of the work, it is based on existing documentation such as theses, books, reports and magazines; and the field survey was carried out, including photographs, planimetries and interviews. The result of the investigation allows to know about buildings that are classified as modern architectural heritage by the National Institute of Cultural Heritage, which have not been raised in other works. Most of these buildings belong to the so-called Architecture of the Engineers made in the 50's and 60's, which, although they were not landmarks of global reference, mark a time in the city. In conclusion, before being another research on Modern Architecture, it has as focus, instruct and serve as support for the deep academic study on the part of the student of Architecture on the Modern Movement, through reinforcement activities, evaluations, bibliographical revision and the approach of singular cases in Cuenca. In this way, at the time of research you will not have to resort to the internet, where the information is often not correct or accurate, and you can use the information gathered in this Teaching Guide.
