Epidermis urbana: paisaje urbano y movilidad

La movilidad en la mayoría de ciudades latinoamericanas obedece a un modelo de planificación influenciado por la máquina, cuyo predominio ha edificado una ciudad donde el automóvil es el protagonista y el peatón y sus necesidades son elementos que quedan en segundo plano. El objetivo principal de este trabajo es otorgar una mirada positiva al caso de estudio “Tranvía de los cuatro ríos de Cuenca”, enfocado hacia su naturaleza como nuevo elemento de la composición urbana y su rol en la conformación de un nuevo paisaje urbano más justo, resiliente y sostenible. Este estudio desarrolla tres imágenes simbólicas: movilidad, espacio público y permeabilidad. Los resultados más importantes giran en torno a superar la dicotomía entre movilidad tradicional y espacio público, otorgando una mirada positiva a esta infraestructura, no solo como material móvil, sino como infraestructura social, capaz de integrar materiales urbanos. Otro resultado apunta, fruto de la comparación de tres ciudades con este sistema tranviario, la necesidad de un cambio de paradigma, pasando de entender el tráfico como un flujo (tubo), a una nueva manera de entender y conceptualizar la movilidad, que puede ser por filtración y percolación (esponja). Tubos y esponjas, es una analogía que puede ilustrar el problema contemporáneo de la movilidad, en este sentido el estudio que aquí se presenta parece relevante.
Mobility in the majority of Latin-American cities obeys a model of planning influenced by the machine, which predominance has built a city where the car is the protagonist; the pedestrian and his needs are elements that stay in the background. The main objective of this work is to give a positive look to the case of study ”Four rivers tram of Cuen- ca ”, focused towards its nature as new element of the urban composition and its role in shaping a new urban landscape, fairer, resilient and sustainable. This study develops three symbolic images: mobility, public space and permeability. The most important re- sults are in the field to overcome the dichotomy between traditional mobility and public space, giving a positive look to this infrastructure, not only as mobile material, but as social infrastructure, capable of integrating urban materials. Another result points out, the product of comparing three cities with this tram system, at the need of a changing paradigm, going from understanding traffic as a flow (pipe), to a new way of dealing and conceptualizing the mobility, which can be by filtration and percolation (sponge). Pipes and sponges are an analogy that can illustrate the contemporary problem of the mobility, in this respect the study that here it is presented seems relevant.
