Objetivo: Conocer la relación entre el ingreso económico y la automedicación en personas de 45 a 65 años de edad que residen en la parroquia San Sebastián de la ciudad de Cuenca. Materiales y Métodos: Estudio caso control, relacional y retrospectivo, aplicando una encuesta de Andrea Conhi durante los meses de junio y julio de 2017. La selección de la población fue por muestreo sistemático. Participaron 456 usuarios de la parroquia San Sebastián en la Ciudad de Cuenca de los cuales usamos 308 casos y controles. Resultados: El sexo que más practica la automedicación es el femenino con un promedio de 57.79% de 154 casos y controles y un 42.21% en hombres. Encontramos que la edad que más se automedica dentro del rango que nos propusimos investigar es la de 65 años y acuden con mayor frecuencia a las farmacias frente a otras opciones como las boticas, establecimientos de salud y bodegas. Conclusiones: Se comprobó que no existe relación entre el ingreso económico y el índice de automedicación.
Objective: To know the relationship between economic income and self-medication in people from 45 to 65 years of age residing in the San Sebastian parish in the city of Cuenca. Materials and Methods: Case study control, relational and retrospective, applying a survey of Andrea Conhi during the months of June and July 2017. The selection of the population was by systematic sampling. Participants were 456 users of the San Sebastian parish in the City of Cuenca of which we used 308 cases and controls. Results: The sex that practices the most self-medication is the female with an average of 57.79% of 154 cases and controls and 42.21% in men. We found that the age that most self-medicates within the range that we set out to investigate is that of 65 years and they go to pharmacies more frequently than other options such as pharmacies, health establishments and warehouses. Conclusions: It was found that there’s not relationship between economic income and self-medication index.
