Lesiones de tejidos blandos en pacientes portadores de prótesis total. Revisión bibliográfica

La salud bucal es un componente que interviene en la calidad de vida de las personas; una vez que esto se torna inestable, se desarrollan alteraciones en la cavidad oral que con el paso del tiempo aumenta de manera notoria, sobre todo en pacientes de edad avanzada. Existen diferentes alternativas de tratamiento; una de ellas es el usar una prótesis total convencional que nos ayuda a mejorar su estética, su comunicación y su rutina alimenticia. Es importante el cuidado adecuado de la aparatología protésica como también el control por parte del odontólogo, para evitar en un futuro lesiones de cualquier tipo. OBJETIVO: El objetivo de esta investigación fue describir las lesiones provocadas en los tejidos blandos relacionados en pacientes portadores de prótesis total mediante una revisión bibliográfica. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: La metodología aplicada fue una revisión bibliográfica de estudios y documentos, como artículos originales y revisiones bibliográficas; para lo cual se realizó la búsqueda en diferentes bases de datos. Se evaluaron aproximadamente 90 artículos de los cuales se seleccionaron 42 publicaciones referentes a las lesiones de tejidos blandos en las personas que usan prótesis totales, tomando en cuenta el valor científico de cada uno de ellos. RESULTADOS: La población con mayor afectación corresponde a los adultos mayores entre los 60 a 69 años. La vida útil de la prótesis no debe pasar de los 5 a 10 años, para evitar dar paso a ciertas alteraciones como la estomatitis, úlceras traumáticas y épulis fisurado, a la evaluación la distribución de lesiones paraprotéticas, la estomatitis representa el 38% de las publicaciones que se utilizaron para realizar el análisis bibliográfico. CONCLUSIONES: Las prótesis que se encuentran mal fabricadas o mal conservadas inevitablemente pierden su calidad debido a que su tiempo de uso excede su vida útil; lo que con el tiempo se puede llegar a ocasionar lesiones en los tejidos bucales.
Oral health is a component that intervenes in people's quality of life; once this becomes unstable, alterations develop in the oral cavity which over time increases noticeablely, especially in elderly patients. There are different treatment alternatives; one of them is to use a conventional total prosthesis that helps us improve their aesthetics, their communication and their food routine. Proper care of prosthetic apparatus as well as control by the dentist is important to avoid in future injuries of any kind. OBJECTIVE: The objective of this research was to describe lesions caused in related soft tissues in patients carrying total prosthetics through a bibliographic review. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The methodology applied was a bibliographic review of studies and documents, such as original articles and bibliographic reviews; for which the search was performed in different databases. Approximately 90 articles were evaluated from which 42 publications concerning soft tissue lesions were selected in people using total prostheses, taking into account the scientific value of each of them. RESULTS : The population with the greatest involvement corresponds to adults between the age of 60 and 69. The lifespan of the prosthesis should not go from 5 to 10 years, to avoid giving way to certain alterations such as stomatitis, traumatic ulcers and cracked rashes, to the evaluation the distribution of paraprotic lesions, stomatitis represents 38% of the publications that were used to perform the bibliographic analysis. CONCLUSIONS: Prostheses that are poorly manufactured or poorly preserved inevitably lose their quality because their time of use exceeds their service life; which over time can lead to lesions in the oral tissues.
