Una guía informativa desempeña un papel importante para fortalecer la comunicación de las actividades de varios sectores económicos, como el sector artesanal. Considerando este aspecto, se elaboró una guía de los centros artesanales que operan en el cantón Rumiñahui de la provincia de Pichincha. Durante la investigación se realizó encuestas a 20 artesanos de más de cinco años de labor artesanal. Del análisis de las encuestas se encontró que la mayoría de artesanos son hombres con el 85%; con un rango de edad que oscila entre los 41 y 90 años y una edad promedio de 65 años; los artesanos llevan en el mercado entre 15 y 72 años y el 55% están afilados a alguna cámara artesanal. En lo referente a la rama artesanal, el 45% de artesanos pertenece a la rama artesanal de la orfebrería, y precisamente son las joyas de plata y oro las que más se elaboran y venden, a pesar de que su costo varía entre los 10 y 500 dólares. Los centros artesanales del cantón Rumiñahui son negocios familiares, los cuales han podido subsistir gracias a que los conocimientos de las diferentes ramas artesanales han ido pasando de generación en generación.
An information guide plays an important role in strengthening communication of the activities of various economic sectors, such as the craft sector. In view of this, a guide was drawn up for craft centres operating in the Rumiñahui canton of Pichincha province. During the research, surveys were carried out on 20 artisans over five years of craft work. From the analysis of the surveys it was found that the majority of artisans are men with 85%; with an age range ranging from 41 to 90 years and an average age of 65 years; the artisans have been in the market between 15 and 72 years and 55% are sharpened to some craft chamber. With regard to the artisan branch, 45% of artisans belong to the artisan branch of the goldsmith’s shop, and it is precisely the silver and gold jewels that are the most elaborated and sold, although their cost varies between 10 and 500 dollars. The crafts centres of the canton of Rumiñahui are family businesses, which have been able to survive thanks to the fact that the knowledge of the different artisan branches has been passed from generation to generation.
