El presente estudio sobre “MANEJO DE LOS DESECHOS BIOCONTAMINANTES DE LAS CLÍNICAS DE LA FACULTAD DE ODONTOLOGÍA DE LA UNIVERSIDAD LAICA “ELOY ALFARO” DE MANABÍ, PERÍODO DE SEPTIEMBRE 2013 A ENERO 2014, tuvo como objetivo determinar cómo se manejan y transportan los desechos Biocontaminantes que se producen en las clínicas de cuarto y quinto año de la Facultad de Odontología, y comparar la forma de manipulación con las normas vigentes elaboradas por el Ministerio de Salud, de lo cual se desprende que existen significativas desviaciones entre lo que se ejecuta en la Facultad y lo que la ley y los reglamentos normativos establecen. Se encontró que el proceso de manipulación no contempla los pasos tales como: identificar los recipientes, clasificar los residuos, almacenar adecuadamente los residuos biopeligrosos, y la entrega de forma adecuada a las entidades que dan el tratamiento final; también el personal no conoce a profundidad las normativas de manejo y manipulación de los desechos; los estudiantes así mismo tienen deficiencias en los cuidados y clasificación de los desechos biocontaminados. Las clínicas de cuarto y quinto año, produjeron una cantidad de desechos biocontaminados de 403 Kg durante el período de evaluación, cuyos registros son de tres tipos: los contaminados con sangre, los desechos anatómicos y los corto punzantes...
This research work has the following topic: “STUDY ON THE HANDLING OF BIO- CONTAMINANT WASTES FROM THE CLINICS OF THE SCHOOL OF DENTAL SCIENCES OF UNIVERSIDAD LAICA ‘ELOY ALFARO’ (‘ELOY ALFARO’ SECULAR UNIVERSITY) OF MANABI, SEPTEMBER 2013 THROUGH JANUARY 2014”. The goal of this research is to determine the level of manipulation and transportation of bio-contaminant wastes in the clinic of the school of dental Sciences. This study showed that the staff in charge of transportation and disposal of bio-contaminated wastes lacks training, and does not follow proper procedures or bio-safety rules. The School does not provide proper transportation and disposal conditions, and this staff only carries out its duties in a mechanical fashion. There is a problem present, which is the “Mixing of bio-contaminant wastes produced in the clinic throughout the different subjects of pre-professional practices, due to manipulation during collection”; this is to say that this is the cause of the problem under study. This evidence was recorded when it was proved that there are practical pre-professional-training subjects that generate bio-contaminated wastes, with a total of 403 Kg of wastes generated throughout the evaluation period.
