El personal de enfermería debe tener los conocimientos necesarios para aplicar la Bioética durante la jornada laboral, y de esta manera evitar conflictos morales que se pueden presentar en la práctica habitual. La aplicación de la Bioética facilita la creación de relaciones equilibradas y le permiten reconocer al paciente como parte fundamental de su trabajo. El objetivo de esta investigación es describir el nivel de conocimientos que tienen las enfermeras sobre Bioética y su aplicación en el cuidado de los pacientes que acuden al Servicio de emergencia. Por lo que se planteó la siguiente hipótesis “El nivel de conocimiento de las enfermeras sobre Bioética influye directamente en su aplicación en el cuidado de los pacientes que acuden al servicio de emergencias”. Este estudio es fruto de la investigación bibliográfica y de campo, relacionado con los conocimientos de Bioética y su aplicación. El grupo de estudio estuvo constituido por 32 enfermeras que laboran en turnos rotativos. Se aplicó una encuesta a las enfermeras y una entrevista a expertos en la materia de Bioética sobre conocimientos y aplicación de la misma. Para su análisis e interpretación de datos se utilizó la estadística descriptiva. Los resultados obtenidos fueron un bajo nivel de conocimientos de las enfermeras sobre Bioética, la no aplicación de la misma en el cuidado a pacientes, y poco interés de las profesionales en participar activamente con el Comité de Bioética institucional; los cuales se presentaron a las autoridades pertinentes, se socializó, planificó y ejecutó un taller de capacitación continua en Bioética.
The nursing staff should have the necessary knowledge to apply the Bioethics during the working hours, and therefore avoid moral conflicts that amy arise in the regular practice. The application of the Bioethics makes easier to establish balanced relationships and allow the nursery staff to recognize that the patients are the main part of their work. The aim of the present research is to describe the level of knowledge of the nursing staff regarding Bioethics and its application in the care of patients coming to the emergency service. Whereby, the following hypothesis was stated “The level of knowledge of the nursing staff regarding Bioethics influences directly on its application in the care of patients coming to the emergency service”. The presente study is the result of the bibliographic and field research, related to the knowledge of Bioethics and its application. The group of study was constituted by 32 nurses that work in rotating shifts. A survey was applied to the nurses and also to experts in Bioethics; such survey was related to its knowledge and application. The descriptive statistics was used for analysis and interpreting data. The results achieved showed a low level of knowledge by the nursing staff on Bioethics, its non-application in the care of patients and little interest by the professionals in actively participate with the institutional Committee of Bioethics;such results were presented to the relevant authorities, an on going training workshop on Bioethics was socialized, planned and implemented.
