En el Cantón Sucre, Provincia de Manabí, se desarrolló un proyecto titulado Enfermedad Periodontal y las necesidades de tratamiento a pacientes diabéticos que acuden al Dispensario Pasadero del Seguro Social Campesino del Cantón Sucre Provincia de Manabí. Enero-Febrero/2014, cuyo objetivo fue determinar la presencia de la misma. El estudio fue de tipo descriptivo, prospectivo, de corte longitudinal y analizó el nivel de enfermedad periodontal a 107 pacientes diabéticos con enfermedades periodontales. Los resultados fueron que el 74% fueron de sexo femenino; el 66% pertenecen al grupo de 45-60 años; 63% tienen diabetes grado II; y, el 85.05% tuvo índice 6, o sea gingivitis con formación de bolsa ruptura de la adherencia epitelial y evidencia de la bolsa periodontal, no presentándose interferencia con la masticación ni existe movilidad dental; el 73% se siente muy satisfecha por la atención brindada; el 83% está de acuerdo con el tratamiento; el 77% no les gustaría que el tratamiento enviado por el odontólogo sea más fuerte; y, el 94% que el tratamiento enviado por este profesional fue oportuno. Se concluye que el desarrollo del proyecto tuvo el éxito deseado, ya que la satisfacción es la consecuencia de la evaluación del equipo que presta el servicio, y por lo tanto, entender cómo evalúa un paciente el servicio en salud es la clave para analizar el sentido de la satisfacción.
A project titled “Periodontal Disease and the need for treatment in diabetics who visit the Pasadero Clinic of the Rural Social Security services, town of Sucre, province of Manabí, throughout the period between January and February of 2014” took place at the aforementioned location, and its objective was to determine the presence of periodontal disease. This study was descriptive, prospective and longitudinal, and it analyzed the degree of periodontal disease in 107 diabetic patients. The results showed that 74% of true subjects were female; 66% had an index score of 6, meaning gingivitis with formation of pockets, rupture of epithelial adherence, and evidence of a periodontal pocked, with no interference with mastication, and with no loosening of the teeth; 73% are very satisfied with the care provided; 83% agree with treatment; 77% would not like more invasive treatment; and 94% perceived the treatment to be opportune. This study concludes that the project was successful, because satisfaction is the consequence of the assessment of the team that provided the service. Therefore, understanding how a patient assesses healthcare is essential in the analysis the sense of satisfaction.
