La periodontitis y la diabetes son enfermedades crónicas no transmisibles de alta prevalencia, existe una gran cantidad de evidencia científica que respalda la asociación entre la diabetes y la periodontitis OBJETIVO: Determinar la efectividad del tratamiento periodontal en pacientes con Diabetes. MATERIALES Y METODOS: Estudio mediante revisión de la literatura de tipo descriptivo, observacional analítico no experimental, de corte transversal y retrospectivo con respecto a la efectividad del tratamiento periodontal en pacientes con diabetes se obtuvo una muestra de 30 artículos científicos, los resultados fueron tabulados y se realizaron gráficos y tablas en Excel. RESULTADO: Se demostró que el 80% de los artículos que el tratamiento periodontal ( raspado y alisado radicular) en pacientes diabéticos reduce o mejora los niveles de glucosa . CONCLUSION: Después de realizar esta revisión de literatura se puede concluir que el tratamiento periodontal en pacientes con gingivitis o periodontitis ayuda en el control de la glucosa amenorando los niveles de azúcar en la sangre de pacientes diabéticos.
Periodontitis and diabetes are chronic noncommunicable diseases of high prevalence, there is a large amount of scientific evidence that supports the association between diabetes and periodontitis OBJECTIVE: To determine the effectiveness of periodontal treatment in patients with Diabetes. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A descriptive, non-experimental analytical observational, cross-sectional and retrospective review of the literature regarding the effectiveness of periodontal treatment in patients with diabetes, a sample of 30 scientific articles was obtained, the results were tabulated and Graphs and tables were made in Excel. RESULT: It was shown that 80% of the articles that periodontal treatment (scaling and root planing) in diabetic patients reduces or improves glucose levels. CONCLUSION: After conducting this literature review, it can be concluded that periodontal treatment in patients with gingivitis or periodontitis helps control glucose by lowering blood sugar levels in diabetic patients.
