En este contexto, el sucesor puede serlo por un acto de voluntad o por testamento que previamente realizó el causante, o por los órdenes sucesorios que establece la legislación vigente correspondiente al Derecho de Sucesiones, en el marco del Derecho Civil. Los herederos o sujetos que tienen derecho a la sucesión por causa de muerte pueden ejercer acciones legales que la ley prescribe, ante las irregularidades que puedan cometerse respecto a los bienes de un patrimonio o a las obligaciones contraídas por el causante.
