El presente trabajo de investigación busca explicar la evolución, financiera, económica que ha tenido el Ecuador desde su creación como República. El proceso de independencia generó varias crisis económicas, que a lo largo de la historia republicana no pudieron ser superadas del todo, causando la pérdida de la moneda nacional, el sucre a finales del siglo XX. El 9 de enero del año 2.000, Ecuador tomó como moneda de curso legal el Dólar Estadounidense, esto como consecuencia a la fuerte devaluación que había sufrido la moneda nacional, el sucre. Este gran cambio termino provocando para el Banco Central del Ecuador la perdida de sus principales funciones; como, la de ser el Banco Emisor de Moneda Nacional, y posterior perdida de su autonomía con la Constitución del 2008, con lo que en la actualidad es necesario y urgente reformar esta institución, dándole un nuevo enfoque, para poder devolverle su autonomía, buscar una reducción en el gasto público y así poder incentivar el crecimiento económico del país.
This investigative work have the intention to explain the financial and economic evolution of Ecuador has had since its creation as a Republic. The independence process generated several economics crises, throughout history republican because since this process of independence it has several economic crises that could not be completely overcome, causing the loss of the national currency, the sucre. On January 9th in 2000, Ecuador adopting The United States Dollar as legal tender, bring due to the strong devaluation the sucre had suffered. This big change, ended causing the loss of the main functions of the Central Bank of Ecuador; such as that of the National Currency Issuing Bank, and subsequently taking away its autonomy with the 2008 Constitution, which is why it is currently necessary and urgent to reform this Institution, giving in the new approach, restoring its autonomy and seeking a reduction in public spending and thus be able to encourage the growth economic of the country.
