El presente trabajo de titulación tuvo como objetivo desarrollar un sistema que facilite a los estudiantes y docentes reservar las áreas de estudio que posee la Biblioteca General de la Universidad Católica de Santiago de Guayaquil a través de una aplicación web. Por tal motivo, se realizó esta investigación con enfoque mixto dado que se buscó conocer la percepción del director de la biblioteca con respecto a la frecuencia de uso del servicio de la Biblioteca General, además de establecer datos específicos de uso y la calificación asignada al servicio recibido por parte de una muestra de 376 estudiantes. Los resultados obtenidos determinan que en el proceso actual de reserva es necesario acercarse al mostrador de la Biblioteca General y que los usuarios consideran el servicio brindado como normal, por lo que se diseñó el sistema automatizado para que en un futuro cercano sea implementado con el fin de optimizar los recursos orientados a la gestión de reservas de áreas de estudio, lo cual redundará en el mejoramiento del servicio de biblioteca ofrecido a la comunidad universitaria.
The objective of this thesis was to develop a system that facilitates students and teachers to reserve the study areas that has the General Library of the Universidad Católica de Santiago de Guayaquil through a web application. For this reason, this research was carried out with a mixed approach since it was sought to know the perception of the library’s director regarding the frequency use of the General Library service, in addition to establishing specific data on use and the rating assigned to the service, received by a sample of 376 students. The results determine that in the current reservation process it’s necessary to approach the General Library desk and that users consider the service provided as normal, for which the automated system was designed for in a near future it could be implemented in order to optimize the resources oriented to the management of reserves study areas, which will result in the improvement of the library service offered to the university community.
