Introducción: El ECV sigue siendo un importante problema de salud pública, que se sitúa entre las cuatro primeras causas de mortalidad en la mayoría de los países y es responsable de un elevado porcentaje de la carga de los trastornos neurológicos. Objetivo: Establecer la prevalencia de eventos cerebrovasculares de tipo isquémico en pacientes con diabetes mellitus tipo 2 hospitalizados durante el año 2019 en el Hospital general IESS Milagro. Metodología: Cuantitativa, Transversal, Retrospectiva, Observacional, Descriptiva. Conclusiones: La prevalencia de ECV isquémico con diabetes mellitus tipo 2 fue de 178 pacientes en el Hospital General IESS Milagro en el año 2019. Existió un leve predominio de sexo masculino, siendo las edades más frecuentes entre 55 y 85 años.
Introduction: Stroke continues to be an important public health problem, which is among the top four causes of mortality in most countries and is responsible for a high percentage of the burden of neurological disorders. Objective: To establish the prevalence of ischemic cerebrovascular events in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus hospitalized during 2019 at the IESS Milagro General Hospital. Methodology: Quantitative, Transversal, Retrospective, Observational, Descriptive. Conclusions: The prevalence of ischemic stroke with type 2 diabetes mellitus was 178 patients at the IESS Milagro General Hospital in 2019. There was a slight predominance of males, with the most frequent ages between 55 and 85 years.
