INTRODUCCIÓN: La historia clínica es un documento legal entre odontólogo y paciente donde se registran eventos de su vida y sus datos personales, incluyendo sus problemas de salud y sus tratamientos presentes o futuros. OBJETIVO: Determinar el conocimiento que presentan los estudiantes de la clínica de odontología de la UCSG sobre la historia clínica como instrumento legal. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: Se realizó un estudio analítico de corte transversal, se presentó una muestra de estudiantes que cursan los ciclos de 7mo, 8vo y 9no de la Carrera de Odontología. Se analizó el conocimiento de los estudiantes de odontología referente a la historia clínica con un enfoque legal, anamnesis, en relación con el examen clínico, diagnóstico y exámenes paraclínicos mediante encuestas realizadas exclusivos para este estudio. Los resultados fueron tabularon y se registrados en medida de porcentaje. RESULTADOS: Entre las variables estudiadas se encontró en un 77.68% de conocimiento legal sobre la historia clínica, siendo en su mayoría adecuada. Además de encontrar un 100% de conocimiento adecuado en anamnesis, examen clínico, diagnóstico presuntivo – definitivo, y exámenes paraclínicos. CONCLUSIÓN: El conocimiento sobre la historia clínica es alto en los estudiantes de ciclos superiores de la carrera de odontología gracias a la enseñanza que se imparte como parte del pensum académico.
INTRODUCTION: The medical history is a legal document between dentist and patient where events of his life and his personal data are recorded, including his health problems and his present or future treatments. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A cross – sectional analytical study was carried out, a sample of students attending the 7th, 8th, 9th cycles of the dental career were presented. The knowledge of dental students regarding the clinical history was analyzed with a legal focus, anamnesis, in relation to the clinical examination, diagnosis and paraclinical examinations through surveys conducted exclusively for this study. The results were tabulated and developed as a percentage. RESULTS: Among the variables studied, 77.68% of legal knowledge about the medical history was found, being mostly adequate. In addition to finding 100% adequate knowledge in history, clinical examination, presumptive - definitive diagnosis, and paraclinical exams. CONCLUSION: The knowledge about the medical history is high in the students of higher cycles of the dental career thanks to the teaching that is taught as part of the academic curriculum.
