Introducción: La sonrisa es uno de los factores más importantes en la estética facial de las personas. Por lo tanto, los especialistas están incorporando la estética facial en su plan de tratamiento, para llegar obtener una sonrisa armónica y juvenil en las personas. Objetivos: Determinar el nivel de satisfacción de sonrisa en los estudiantes de 6to a 8vo ciclo de la UCSG del semestre A 2020. Materiales y métodos: El presente trabajo de investigación es un estudio de enfoque cuantitativo de tipo trasversal descriptivo y prospectivo, la población estuvo constituido por 127 estudiantes de la carrera de odontología. Se llevó a cabo mediante encuestas digitales, por la plataforma de Microsoft Forms. Resultados: Los estudiantes expresaron que el 80% no muestra mucho sus encías al sonreír y el 20% restante si muestra encías al sonreír, el género más afectado por su mala estética dental con un 72% es el sexo femenino, seguido de un menor porcentaje por el sexo masculino 28%. Conclusiones: La sonrisa no influye en la personalidad de la gente, por el motivo que no se ven afectados ni por el tamaño de sus dientes o encías. Se mencionó que el tabaquismo es un mal hábito que mancha los dientes.
Introduction: The smile is one of the most important factors in people's facial aesthetics. Therefore, specialists are incorporating facial aesthetics in their treatment plan, to achieve a harmonious and youthful smile in people. Objectives: To determine the level of smile satisfaction in students from 6th to 8th cycle of the UCSG of the semester A 2020. Materials and methods: This research work is a study with a quantitative approach of a descriptive and prospective transversal type, the population was made up of 127 students from the dental career. It was carried out through digital surveys, by the Microsoft Forms platform. Results: The students expressed that 80% do not show their gums much when smiling and the remaining 20% if they show gums when smiling, the gender most affected by poor dental aesthetics with 72% being female, followed by a lower percentage by males 28%. Conclusions: The smile does not influence people's personality, for the reason that they are not affected or by the size of their teeth or gums. It was mentioned that smoking is a bad habit that stains the teeth.
