En la actualidad hay un gran número de madres adolescentes que desconocen en su totalidad la importancia de la lactancia materna, el no tener el conocimiento necesario a la hora de dar de lactar, los beneficios que ayuden al niño de inmunizar , para desarrollo y crecimiento, a la madre de regenerar el calcio, C.A de útero y glándulas mamarias. El objetivo de este estudio es identificar el conocimiento de la Lactancia Materna en las madres adolescentes que acuden a un Hospital del sur de Guayaquil. Materiales y métodos: estudio cuantitativo de tipo descriptivo, transversal prospectivo. Población: 100 madres adolescentes. Técnica: Encuesta. Instrumento: cuestionario de preguntas. Resultados: el 67% de madres adolescentes no tienen conocimiento de lactancia materna, el 68% desconoce el momento óptimo para brindar la lactancia y 47% consideran la suspensión de la misma a los 6 meses. En cuanto a los beneficios de la lactancia materna el 55% desconoce los beneficios. El 62% conoce los beneficios . Las 100 encuestas , el 66% manifestaron no haber recibido capacitación sobre lactancia materna.Conclusión: es necesario que se realicen capacitaciones que permitan cambios en los conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas sobre lactancia materna.

Results: 67% of adolescent mothers have no knowledge of breastfeeding, 68% do not know the optimal time to provide breastfeeding and 47% consider suspending it at 6 months. Regarding the benefits of breastfeeding 55% do not know the benefits. 62% know the benefits. The 100 surveys, 66% reported not having received training on breastfeeding. Conclusion: it is necessary to carry out training that allows changes in knowledge, attitudes and practices about breastfeeding.
