Evaluar el conocimiento que tienen los estudiantes de la UCSG sobre la mucositis oral en el semestre A 2022.

Introducción: La mucositis oral es una afección gravemente debilitante. Puede ocurrir debido a la radioterapia en la cabeza y el cuello, agentes quimioterapéuticos, agentes de quimioterapia en dosis altas, trasplante de células madre hematopoyéticas. Objetivo: Evaluar el conocimiento que tienen los estudiantes de la UCSG sobre la mucositis oral en el Semestre A-2022. Materiales y métodos: Este estudio es tipo descriptivo y de corte transversal. La muestra fue de 186 participantes. Resultados: Se encuestaron 124 (66.67%) de sexo femenino y 62 (33.33%) de sexo masculino. En cuanto al conocimiento de los 186 estudiantes, solo 27 obtuvieron una nota mayor a 7. En cuanto al ciclo y la relación al conocimiento encontramos que: 2 (7.41%) alumnos fueron de V ciclo, 14 (51.85%) de VI ciclo, 3 (11.11%) de VII, 2 (7.41%) de VIII ciclo y 6 (22.22%) de IX. Conclusiones: Es necesario mejorar los procesos formativos de los estudiantes, incrementando las prácticas, realizando rotaciones en hospitales oncológicos, demostrando de esta manera que se necesita mejorar el proceso formativo de los mismos, teniendo en consideración que es importante poder realizar un buen diagnóstico para poder tratar a los pacientes que padecen esta enfermedad.

It can occur due to radiation therapy to the head and neck, chemotherapeutic agents, high-dose chemotherapy agents, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Objective: Evaluate the knowledge that UCSG students have about oral mucositis in Semester A-2022 Materials and methods: This study is descriptive and cross-sectional. The sample was 186 participants. Results: 124 (66.67%) females and 62 (33.33%) males were surveyed. Regarding the knowledge of the 186 students, only 27 obtained a grade greater than 7. Regarding the cycle and the relationship to knowledge, we found that: 2 (7.41%) students were from V cycle, 14 (51.85%) from VI cycle, 3 (11.11%) from VII, 2 (7.41%) from VIII cycle and 6 (22.22%) from IX. Conclusions: It is necessary to improve the training processes of the students, increasing the practices, carrying out rotations in oncology hospitals, thus demonstrating that it is necessary to improve their training process, considering that it is important to be able to make a good diagnosis in order to treat patients suffering from this disease.
