Siempre más persona que artista is a documentary made in Quito which is born of the need to minimize the negative stereotype of the citizenry to urban artists and seeks to show a different perspective of the person who is behind the graffiti. Urban Art in Quito is a culture that is advancing rapidly, but despite this no one knows much of the artist behind the work, and although there are festivals and initiatives that appear every day, graffiti in Quito is barely growing. For the production of this documentary an important period of investigation was, because in order to capture the reality of these artists was necessary to dive a bit into his world, attending festivals, workshops and other events to better understand what it is to be graffiti. At the end of the documentary became evident that the negative stereotype comes from the opinion of adults who qualify as disrespectful and vague the graffiti, and despite the positive opinion about urban art comes from young people there is a confusion of terms as the figurative graphic view it as graffiti but others forms of graffiti are qualified as vandalism devoid of meaning.
Siempre más persona que artista es un documental realizado en la ciudad de Quito que nace de la necesidad de minimizar el estereotipo negativo que tiene la ciudadanía hacia los artistas urbanos y busca mostrar una perspectiva distinta de la persona que está detrás del grafitero. El Arte Urbano en Quito, es una cultura que está avanzando a pasos agigantados, pero pese a esto nadie sabe mucho del artista detrás de su obra; y aunque existen festivales e iniciativas que aparecen día con día, el grafiti en Quito apenas está creciendo. Para la realización de este documental se tuvo un periodo importante de investigación, ya que para poder plasmar la realidad de estos artistas era necesario sumergirse un poco en su mundo, asistiendo a festivales, talleres, entre otros eventos para entender mejor lo que es ser un grafitero. Con este documental se pudo evidenciar que el estereotipo negativo proviene de la opinión de los adultos mayores que califican de “irrespetuosos” y “vagos” a los grafiteros, y a pesar de que la opinión positiva acerca del arte urbano proviene de los jóvenes existe un confusión de términos ya que la gráfica figurativa se considera como grafiti pero los tags, deformación de la tipografía son calificados como actos vandálicoscarentes de sentido y estética.
