With the standardization of the DVD and more recently the Blue-Ray, and with the launching of new encoding formats 5.1 Surround and Dolby Digital (AC-3), DTS and the Sony SDDS, the cinematographic productions and musical sound with 5.1 Surround became commercial and more accessible to the public, so that the demand for this technology had a global growth, thereby creating the industry of Home Theater or Home cinema, which tried to implement the same visual and hearing experience, which was only achieved in the cinemas, to the comfortable space at home, without having to spend a lot of money or be a privileged individual. Needles to say, that the systems of multichannel audio surround have a bright future and there is still a lot to do for the world of entertainment and audiovisual production, as for example the AUDIO 3D (Holophonics), which, it should be clarified, is not the same as Surround Sound 5.1 but they are closely related. In the final analysis, the key to sound production multichannel is how to make an effective use of the Surround speakers and Subwoofer in order to create a product with a maximum value of virtual entertainment.
Con la estandarización del DVD y más recientemente del Blue-Ray, y con el lanzamiento de nuevos formatos de codificación 5.1 Surround como el Dolby Digital (AC-3), el DTS y el Sony SDDS, las producciones cinematográficas y musicales con sonido 5.1 Surround se volvieron más accesibles y se comercializaron a todo el público, por lo que la demanda de esta tecnología tuvo un crecimiento mundial, creándose así la industria del Home Theater o Cine en Casa, la cual trata de llevar la misma experiencia visual y auditiva, que sólo se conseguía en los cines, al cómodo espacio del hogar, sin tener que gastar mucho ni ser un privilegio de pocos. No está por demás decir que los sistemas de audio multicanal Surround tienen un futuro brillante y mucho por hacer todavía para el mundo del entretenimiento y la producción audiovisual, como por ejemplo el AUDIO 3D (Holofonía), el que cabe aclarar, no es lo mismo que sonido Surround 5.1 pero están muy relacionados. En definitiva, la clave de la producción sonora multicanal es hacer uso efectivo de los parlantes Surround y del Subwoofer para crear un producto con un máximo valor de entretenimiento virtual.
