The white spot is a pathology that results from a demineralization of enamel by the accumulation and retention of bacterial biofilm. Having a relationship with orthodontic treatment, having the existence of this fixed appliance causes tooth brushing to be inefficient, causing an accumulation of bacterial plaque around the teeth and the braces as such, therefore there is an appearance of these in the teeth (Julien et al., 2013, pp.641-647). This research was conducted in order to evaluate the presence and incidence of white spot in patients carrying fixed orthodontic. After acquiring the corresponding authorizations with the pertinent authorities, we will access the clinical records for the selection of patients between the required ages, in which will be evaluated the lesions according to the ICDAS system (International Caries and Assessment System). This study is of descriptive longitudinal observational type since by means of the observation there was demonstrated the prevalence of white spot. This study is of a longitudinal observational descriptive type due to the observation of the subsistence of the same. This investigation showed that the dental piece most affected during the treatment corresponds to No. 12 and No. 43. It achieved to determine that the surface of major predilection corresponds to the site mesial. The phase of the procedure is not related to the appearance of these pathologies because there is no significant difference for the presence. This study helps motivate professional specialists to take preventive and therapeutic strategies before, during and after placement of fixed appliances, especially educate and motivate to the patients to maintain accurate and complete oral hygiene.
La mancha blanca es una patología que resulta de una desmineralización del esmalte por la acumulación y retención de biofilm bacteriano. Teniendo una relación con el tratamiento de ortodoncia, al haber la existencia de esta aparatología fija ocasiona que el cepillado dental sea ineficiente provocando el acúmulo de placa bacteriana alrededor de las piezas dentales y los brackets como tal, por lo cual hay aparición de estas (Julien et al. 2013, pp.641-647). La presente investigación fue realizada con el fin de evaluar la presencia e incidencia de mancha blanca en pacientes que portan ortodoncia fija. Luego de adquirir las autorizaciones correspondientes con las autoridades pertinentes, se accederá a las historias clínicas para la selección de los pacientes entre las edades requeridas, en los mismos que se evaluarán las lesiones según el sistema ICDAS (International Caries and Assessment System). Este estudio es de tipo descriptivo observacional longitudinal debido a que por medio de la observación se demostró la subsistencia de estas. Esta investigación evidenció que la pieza dental más afectada durante el tratamiento corresponde a la Nº 12 y N° 43. Se logró determinar que la superficie de mayor predilección corresponde a la cara mesial. La fase del procedimiento no se relaciona con la aparición de estas patologías debido a que no hay una diferencia significativa para la concurrencia. Este estudio ayuda a motivar a los profesionales especialistas a tomar estrategias preventivas y terapéuticas antes, durante y después de la colocación de la aparatología fija, sobre todo educar y motivar a los portadores a mantener una correcta y completa higiene bucal.
