La presente investigación contiene las herramientas y elementos utilizados para el desarrollo de la aplicación web “Control de Matriculación Estudiantil” (SME), que trata de manera detalla el análisis de las necesidades que tiene la Facultad de Ciencias Administrativas, Gestión Empresarial e Informática de la Universidad Estatal de Bolívar, en cuanto a la matriculación. Mediante la utilización de las técnicas de recolección de datos entrevista y observación directa se pudo obtener la información necesaria para determinar los requerimientos del sistema, los que sirvieron para establecer las funciones del sistema de matriculación; para la etapa de análisis, y diseño se utilizo la metodología estructurada y el modelo RAD (Desarrollo Rápido de Aplicaciones), en la fase de implementación se utilizo la Programación extrema, que facilita el trabajo en equipo, ajustándose a nuestras características. En el desarrollo de esta aplicación se utilizo herramientas Open Source: sistema operativo Centos 5.3, lenguajes: PHP, Java Script, HTML, Ajax; Gestor de base de datos PosgreSql, manejador de base de datos Webmin, los que permitieron el desarrollo y manejo de la información. Con la implementación de SME (Control de Matriculación Estudiantil) se reduce el tiempo de proceso de matriculación, se mejora el proceso de pago de aranceles estudiantiles en la tesorería de la Universidad Estatal de Bolívar, consultas de las asignaturas aprobadas y reprobadas de los diferentes periodos lectivos con sus respectivos créditos, la cual la realizan los señores estudiantes; brinda facilidades a las secretarias en la consulta de información del record académico estudiantil; minimizando los errores de digitación; genera una serie de reportes para los diferentes usuarios: Directores, Secretarias, Estudiantes, entre los cuales tenemos: Libro de Matricula, Nóminas Estudiantiles, Créditos estudiantiles, Certificados de matrícula, Nomina para Padrones Electorales, Actas de calificación, Reporte estudiantil, lo que permite optimizar tiempo y esfuerzo en el proceso de matriculación .
