The investigation of the ethnographic study of the Taita Carnival and its incidence in the festival of the city of Guaranda, Bolívar Province, year 2017, is transcendent because its origin, customs and traditions are determined that it fostered in its management. The methodology used in this study was qualitative descriptive, the population of ethnographic analysis went to the group of Taitas, proclaimed from 1983 to 2017, with a total of 27; the collection of information was from primary sources through participatory dialogue and bibliographic review, the techniques used were observation and interview, the narrative summary of his legacy in the case of the deceased characters. The results were the determination of the origin of the character, characterization in the INPC record of the characters from 1983 to 2017, as well as the description of customs and traditions that strengthened their mandate. El estudio etnográfico del Taita Carnaval y su incidencia en la fiesta mayor de la ciudad de Guaranda, Provincia Bolívar, año 2017, es trascendente porque se determina su origen, costumbres y tradiciones que fomentó en su gestión. La metodología empleada en este estudio fue cualitativa de tipo descriptivo, la población de análisis etnográfico fue al grupo de Taitas, proclamados desde 1983 al 2017, con un total de 27; la recolección de información procedió de fuentes primarias a través de diálogo participativo y revisión bibliográfica, las técnicas empleadas concurrieron en la observación y la entrevista, el resumen narrativo a familiares y amigos en el caso de los personajes ya fallecidos. Los resultados fueron determinar el origen del personaje, caracterización que se realizó mediante las fichas del (Instituto Nacional de Patrimonio Cultural) INPC a los personajes que data de 1983 al 2017, así como la descripción de costumbres y tradiciones que fortalecieron en su mandato.
